Paul Tagliabue serves as the founding chairman of The Levin Institute. From 1989 to 2006, he was Commissioner of the National Football League. He began his career as a policy analyst in the Office of the Secretary of Defense; subsequently, he was a partner in the Washington law firm of Covington & Burling. He has served on the board of governors of the United Way of America and on the board of the National Urban League. He is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations.
Rob Kindler is Vice Chairman at Morgan Stanley. Rob joined Morgan Stanley after having been global head of mergers and acquisitions at JPMorgan for six years. Prior to that Rob was a senior partner at the law firm of Cravath, Swaine & Moore, where he specialized in mergers and acquisitions for over 20 years. He is on the Board of Trustees of Colgate University, the Board of Trustees of New York University School of Law, the Board of Directors of March of Dimes (NY Div), and the Board of Directors of the Knight-Bagehot Fellowship Program at Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism.
Matt Nimetz is a managing director of General Atlantic LLC, a leading private investment firm focusing globally on the information technology/communications sector. Prior to that, Mr. Nimetz was a partner (and former chair) of the law firm of Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton & Garrison in New York City. He has also served as Under Secretary of State for Security Assistance, Science and Technology and as Counselor of the Department of State. Mr. Nimetz serves as a member of the Council on Foreign Relations; a director of The Nature Conservancy of New York, member and former chair of the Center for Democracy and Reconciliation in Southeast Europe, chair of the Advisory Committee of Central European University and trustee of Committee for Economic Development.
Brad Race is a partner at the law firm of Dewey Ballantine LLP where he regularly provides advice and representation on corporate, securities, real estate, governmental relations and legislative matters. Mr. Race has served as Secretary and Chief of Staff to the Governor of New York, George Pataki. Currently he serves on several boards including The John Hancock Life Insurance Company of New York, The School of American Ballet, and Dia Center for the Arts.
Stephen M. Ross is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Related Companies, L.P. Mr. Ross began his career in Detroit, Michigan working for the accounting firm of Coopers & Lybrand as a tax attorney. He later moved to New York where he specialized in real estate and corporate finance at two investment banking firms immediately prior to founding Related. Mr. Ross is a member of the Executive Committee and the Board of Directors of the Real Estate Board of New York; Chairman of the Board of CharterMac and Equinox Fitness and a member of the Board of Directors of the Guggenheim Museum, Kerzner International, and Lincoln Center. He is a trustee of the National Building Museum, the Urban Land Institute, the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, and the Jackie Robinson Foundation.
Henry Schacht is a Director of Lucent Technologies and a Managing Director and Senior Advisor of Warburg Pincus LLC. Mr. Schacht currently serves on the board of directors of the Aluminum Company of America (ALCOA), and The New York Times Company. He is an honorary trustee of the Brookings Institution and a trustee emeritus of the Culver Educational Foundation and a member of the Council on Foreign Relations. In addition, he is a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, a Fellow of the Academy of Arts and Sciences, and a member of the American Philosophical Society. Mr. Schacht has served on several corporate boards and has been a trustee of the Ford Foundation as well as the Rockefeller Foundation and the Urban Institute.
Alair Townsend is publishing director of Crain's New York Business. Ms. Townsend has served as New York City's Deputy Mayor for Finance and Economic Development and as the City's Budget Director; in addition, she has held several posts in Washington, D.C.including Associate Director of the Budget Committee of the House of Representatives; Assistant Secretary for Management and Budget of the United States Department of Health and Human Services, and Staff Director of the Subcommittee on Fiscal Policy of the Joint Economic Committee of Congress.
Garrick Utley is the President of The Levin Graduate Institute. For forty years Mr. Utley worked as a broadcast journalist on NBC, ABC, CNN, as well as Public Radio and Public Television. With a primary focus on international affairs he has reported from more than seventy-five countries. Currently he is a co-host of "America Abroad" on Public Radio, a program which examines the United States' role and relationships in the world. He also serves as host of the Metropolitan Opera broadcasts on Public Television. He is the author of the book: "You Should Have Been Here Yesterday" (PublicAffairs, 2000), a narrative of the growth of television news in the United States. Board service includes The Council on Foreign Relations (1993-2003). Currently, Mr. Utley is Chairman of the American Council on Germany, a director of Public Radio International and a trustee of Carleton College.
Robert Wilmers is chairman of M&T Bank Corporation. Mr. Wilmers serves on the Board of Directors of: The Business Council of New York State, Inc. the Buffalo Niagara Partnership, and the Andy Warhol Foundation. He is a member of the John F. Kennedy School of Government Visiting Committee at Harvard University; the French Institute/Alliance Francaise; and the Council on Foreign Relations.
