Job Description:

Leading global institute, located in Midtown Manhattan, is seeking Audio/Visual systems engineer to provide support for all internal systems and remote constituencies. We are a distinct, elite educational entity, offering unique perspective on research and education in the areas of macro-economics, talent index pool, executive education and other respective global innovation areas. As such, our Audio/ Visual technology is positioned to support all of our revenue sources across multiple business lines. Global research programs, worldwide graduate, post-graduate and executive level education, international conferences and specialized partnership programs require robust, scalable and flexible environment, which will provide cost-effective, yet reliable infrastructure for comprehensive collaboration.

This is a senior hands-on position, reporting to Chief Information Officer, with responsibilities for configuration, deployment, management and support of all internal AV systems. Successful candidate will hold primary responsibilities for our brand new AV infrastructure environment, which includes a collection of state of the art Video Conferencing equipment, sound systems, digital archives and video library.

  • Operate, maintain and support global Tandberg and Cisco IP video conferencing system, including HQ and partner locations throughout the world
  • Operate, maintain and support in-house video / sound systems, including VCRs, DVD players, TVs and portable AV carts
  • Provide support and assistance to TV, video and film crews during major events
  • Work closely with IT personnel to integrate AV systems across network, data center and voice technologies
  • Assist Levin staff with setting up AV equipment for lectures, events, conferences or other business-related activities
  • Create and maintain end-user access accounts, profiles and policies for seamless operation across data / voice / wireless / video technologies
  • Implement tools, policies and techniques for effective and efficient AV infrastructure management, including user templates for various systems access, recovery methods, connectivity alternatives and other relevant methods.
  • Test, debug and repair hardware and software issues
  • Act as a liaison with hardware and software manufactures for problem diagnosis and resolution
  • Recommend, plan and execute software and hardware infrastructure upgrades
  • Recommend software / hardware purchases
  • Provide on-going support to Levin’ executives and staff on access, connectivity and other relevant AV technology issues
  • On occasion, assist Levin events and conferencing team in shooting and editing HD video
  • Create, edit and publish various content, using different audio and video encoding techniques to intra and internet servers, digital library and content server, including podcasts, webcasts and other interactive technologies
  • Assist Levin research, academic and events departments in creating and deploying various media through on world wide web and throughout partner schools,

Position Requirements:

Required:

Bachelor degree in a related field or comparable experience

Excellent written and verbal communication skills as well as strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

3 Years minimum experience installation and/or operation & maintenance of commercial audiovisual systems. 3 Years minimum experience installing and/or operation & maintenance of Tandberg or Polycom VTC Systems, including network and telephony connectivity. 3 Years minimum experience operation of digital audio processors. 2 Years minimum experience operation & maintenance of digital projection systems. 2 Years minimum experience operation & maintenance of Crestron Control systems including program and panel loads

Working hands-on knowledge of TCP/IP protocol stack. General knowledge of Voice over IP, Video on Demand and webcasting technologies, deep understanding of video and sound encoding, decoding and compression techniques, including MPEG-1,2,3,4, DiVX, DVD and others

Preferred: Tandberg, Polycom or other industry - recognized certifications. Working, hands-on knowledge of Tandberg Videoconferencing, Content server, webcasting, podcasting and other related technologies

This is a service-oriented position, where customers are a top priority. Attitude, work ethic and strong analytical and troubleshooting skills are a must for a successful candidate. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. This position reports to the CIO and has high visibility within the organization.

Special Notes: This is a full time calendar year appointment.  Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA.
