The Levin Institute Holds Event at the Asia Society

Entrepreneurship and innovation beat at the heart of a growing economy, especially in rapidly developing countries such as China. However, the strategy and relationships that help lead to entrepreneurial success in China differ widely from those in other countries. How does the business impact from regulators in China differ from that in the U.S.? What type of relationships and with whom should a potential entrepreneur cultivate and foster? What are the biggest obstacles to founding and growing a venture in China and how have successful entrepreneurs in China overcome them?

Vivian Shi, a Board member of Suntech Power Holding Company [NYSE:STP], and Mr. Weize Yang, Party Secretary of Wuxi Municipal Government, shared their experiences and insights on how Suntech Power Holding Company grew into a $5 billion business. The state's role in encouraging innovation and entrepreneurial challenges encouraged a lively discussion after the brief presentations. The discussion was moderated by Pres. Garrick Utley.
